The facade that occupies this space is dear to my family. Decades ago (it went by another name) my grandfather used to frequent it for lunch. A few years back a friend of mine temporarily ran a great seafood eatery out of here. Since then it’s been known as Las Flores. Traditional Mexican dishes and all day breakfast tacos are available till close. Economic prices, great salsa, sopa with every meal, supersize lemonade offerings all in the heart of the Heights make this hidden gem a favorite of mine. Classic Spanish ballads play on a CD boom box (yes, you read that right). I have two recommendations, their pechuga relleno and for a healthier option, their Flores Salad which is the equivalent of a “southwest salad.”
I had to return my plate. I ordered the mole, and the smell of it was bad, including the rice. It had already gone bad. The man sitting at another table returned his plate of pancakes. They had a foul taste to them.
I was really surprised. This place usually has good food.
My sister told me about this place. Nothing fancy just great food. In my opinion, the best menudo and taco combo in town. Every time I'm in Laredo, I stop by for my menudo, molleja, and tripa combo. Service is great and friendly.
This place is really going downhill; it's a shame. This is the second time in a row that my food is spoiled. Last time, the queso en salsa was definitely expired. Beans were also old and then made extremely salty to try and mask the taste. This time, my pancakes had a sour after taste and after two bites, literally made me go to the rr to throw up a bit. It sucks to leave a negative review because I've been to Las flores dozens of time (mostly the #2 location) and I loved it and considered it above average Mexican food, but this location is sub par if not horrible now. -- I overheard the owner once blaming Joe Biden for his business slowing down, but I gotta say: It's the quality of your food and your willingness to serve expired stuff to save money.
P.s. the coffee creamers here are the worst I've ever had.
